Perfecting your travel bedtime routine for better sleep on the road✨

Perfecting your travel bedtime routine ✨

We’ve all been there - exhausted from a long travel day, crash at the new hostel but instead of a deep sleep you get bright lights, loud snorers and early packers. As I’m writing this, I’m suffering from a couple sleepless nights with snoring hostel dormmates myself 😪

Sleeping while traveling isn’t always easy but sleep hygiene even on the road helps reduce the toll of travelling on your body and keeps you going longer. Here are 4 sleep tips for the road.

Step 1: Freshen Up and Reset 🪥

The first thing I do when I return to my room is wash away the day. Nothing feels better than brushing off travel grime after hours of planes, trains, or wandering cobblestone streets. Two things I always have - face wipes and my go-to travel electric toothbrush. Some may call this high maintenance but, trust me, clean teeth and skin is the key to feeling refreshed.  This bamboo one is eco-friendly and compact without compromising the clean

    Step 2: Stay Organized and Stress-Free ✨

What I’m not up for when I’m tired - rummaging through that big backpack looking for my toothpaste. This is why I swear by a toiletry bag, it keeps everything organised in one pouch and easy to grab even when I get back to the dorms at midnight. A hanging one is even better so I don’t have to set it down on the (somehow always wet) bathroom counters or showers.

Here’s my favourite because it has pockets for my makeup as well.  We have a few different styles to suit your travel type. Knowing exactly where everything is makes bedtime so much smoother, and it keeps me in “wind down” mode instead of frustration mode.

Step 3: Get Cozy with Comfort-First Travel Wear 🛋️

Some hostels have nice linens, most unfortunately leave much to be desired. Over time, I realized that having my own soft layers helps me sleep better anywhere. That’s why I never travel without my sleep + travel hoodie set. IIt’s breathable, lightweight, and designed for ultimate comfort - perfect for slipping into after a shower or even for long-haul flights. Honestly, it feels like wrapping yourself in a cloud.

Having a familiar, cozy outfit signals to my brain that it’s time to relax, even if I’m halfway across the world.

Step 4: Ready for bed 😴

Eye mask and ear plugs or earbuds ready to go. I always get these out beside me because who knows what kind of sleepers are in the room with you - or maybe you’re the culprit. An upgrade I swear by - a ‘3D Eye Mask’. When I first started travelling I just used the cheapest ones I could find but then I never liked using it because it felt claustrophobic instead of comforting.

What is a 3D eye mask? It’s one that blocks out the light while leaving padding between your eyes and the mask so they’re comfortable, breathable and not actually putting pressure on your face. We also have more decorative, comfortable ones if that's your style 😎

Why a Travel Bedtime Routine Matters?

Travel is exciting, but it can also be exhausting. By creating a bedtime routine that works anywhere, you give your body and mind the chance to recharge. Whether you’re in a hostel, Airbnb or even the sleeper train, having familiar steps helps signal to your brain: it’s time to rest.

Sweet dreams and safe travels! 🌍✨
